You bet

- food scotland

I feel like I should put it in writing and make it official that Kat and I have a bet going on. She recently deactivated her facebook account and I challenged her that she will miss it so much and will be back to using it in less than a year

So, if Kat reactivates her facebook account before August 2014 she will have to buy me a bottle of Scotch whisky. If she doesn’t the whisky will be on me.

And here’s some support for anyone else who is inspired: How to Quit Facebook (link). Among other advice they mention Cold Turkey (link), an app which lets you (temporarily) block websites and programs - useful for people like me with no self-restraint who have to write job applications instead of checking facebook all the time.

Ha, talking of FB, I read an article in a magazine that FB makes you unhappy and everyone who has never signed up with it, should therefore congratulate themselves. They conducted a study showing that people are less happy the more often they check their FB accounts… as it causes envy and depression when comparing their own lifes with the seemingly perfect lifes of others… (others design their FB sites carefully so it appears they lead a happy life with no downfalls and flaws…) I do admit that you can probably correlate everything with anything…. but yes the bet is still on! and whenever I start up my computer I feel like I should be checking my FB account but so far I’ve stayed clear of it. - Kat

Stay clear of it. Otherwise, I’ll have this one: Talisker 10 Year Old (http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-4837.aspx) - Maike

:-) If I do, I would love to sit down have a glass a of this: http://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/the-macallan-10-year-old-whisky/ the 3cl sample will do.;-) - Kat

You’ll get that one for Christmas for further encouragement :) - Maike

@Kat: I always post only good news or trivia on FB. All the other things that happen to me are my “private” life and since FB cannot be “private”, I don’t post it. But somehow that’s like in real life: Towards acquaintances or strangers you tend to show your best side. When I see pictures of others of their holidays in XY, then I just think “yeah, good for you, could do this as well if I really wanted to”. - der Erich

Update: Kat won the bet, received a bottle of Whisky, and also convinced me to leave facebook :) - Maike
