Still Young

A few weeks ago I experimented with a dry shampoo substitute (link), and I continued experiments today.

Dry shampoo seems to come in really handy when you don’t have time to wash and dry your hair, or when you don’t have access to running water (maybe because you’re in the wilderness, adventuring). It usually comes as a spray which is to be applied to the hair, massaged in, and brushed out with a regular hair brush. The spray contains an absorbant such as rice starch to absorb the sebum, some gas to make the spray spray, perfume, and other additives for which I don’t know the reason.

Apparently, according to the internetz, you can substitute expensive dry shampoo with absorbent things such as cornstarch, cornflour, oatmeal, etc. You just take the powder of your choice and apply it to your hair, massage it in, brush it out. If you do it regularly it might make life easier to use a powderbrush or a salt shaker to apply the powder to the hair. And if you want it to smell nice just add a few droplets of essential oil.

I gave this a try and it worked fine, but my hair ended up looking whitish even after thorough brushing. But now I have found a solution to this problem which at the same time smells great. I mixed cornflour with cocoa powder which resulted in a brown dry shampoo that doesn’t make me look old and smells of chocolate. On a walk today, whenever the wind blew through my hair I got a nice whiff of chocolate. I am not sure if this will lead to me eating lots of chocolate or the opposite. I am also curious to see how this will affect the number of people wanting to dance with me.
