I went to a temp work agency today for another shot at working for the Scottish Government. The agent who is in charge of me seems quite nice though not overly capable. In order for him to do his job I needed to call him about ten times and send him several emails this past week. But the good news is that they have temporary government positions all the time, and this way I could move around the government departments for a bit. However, this comes at the cost of proper payment.
Anyway, they had me take two tests. The first one was copy typing which I passed at 98 %. Good enough for me. However, I was a little bit disappointed of my result of the really silly aptitude test which I admittedly rushed through a bit - only 92 %. But it was still more than required, so that they have no concerns about hiring me, but I need to get clearance first. The basic Disclosure Scotland certificate of which I am in possession thanks to my volunteering activities, though required, is not enough, and the fact that I used to live in the States makes the whole process a wee bit more complicated than necessary and will presumably require many more calls to agency guy.
But it is looking good and seems only a matter of weeks until I’m in. What a fantastic Christmas present that would be.
