Christmas - Happy or Crappy?
- hiking scotland career dancing
This past year has been quite a ride. I wasn’t sick once, but I joined one choir and I performed stand-up comedy. I did one trip to Spain and saw my family in Germany twice. I lived in three very different places in Scotland, I made four new lovely friends and many acquaintances yet to become friends. I hosted five visitors, three of whom more than once. I had five job interviews, I finished eleven online courses, I climbed a dozen hills, I applied for forty job vacancies. And I danced every single week, all the while chasing after the job of my dreams.
In hindsight, I took some unnecessary detours career-wise, and many of the job applications could now be merely filed under exercises in writing resumes and covering letters, in which I have become an expert. However, by going this route and possibly taking some detours I have come to know so much more about what I want in my professional and in my personal life. And how much of it I already have. And that’s why at the end of the day, or in this case, the year, the result of my job interview with the Scottish Government today shouldn’t determine whether it is going to be a happy or a crappy Christmas for me. Because on the whole, this year has been a brilliant one, and I wouldn’t miss any day of it. (Not even the day I took a dip in the canal.)
