The end (for real this time)

- dating

Five months after the first date we have now come full circle. My man and I are done, over and out.

What went wrong? Hard to say, many things. Liking each other and having similar values was not enough. Maybe our personalities and interests were too different, maybe our personal issues weren’t compatible. I wasn’t myself around him a lot of the time, and at first I thought that was just because we didn’t know each other well yet, and I just went along with it, but then I got used to it and stopped noticing it. Not ideal.

I would prefer it if I knew exactly what went wrong and how to fix it, but I don’t and he doesn’t, so I’ll go with that sometimes things just don’t work out.

So I talked things through with friends and did a bit of wallowing, and strangely, now I’m fine. So, going forward, I need a new strategy. Here’s the best plan I currently have: I’ll buy a cottage in the highlands and get kittens!

I like the idea of the cottage, but kittens… Border Collie puppies are so much cuter. Or free space for visitors… - Kat

Oh no, that’s so sad. But you’re right: You need to be able to be yourself around your significant other. Otherwise, you won’t be able to keep it up for a long time. Anyway, use your free time and energy for something else. Kittens are cute, but be careful, cats may betray you! (They are always going for the cosiest place with the most food) Only dogs are faithful and therefore human’s best friend. :) - der Erich

I like puppies! But once they stop being cute the smell puts me off. Cats won’t die right away if I forget to feed them - perfect for me! - Maike

There is an easy solution to the puppy problem. I met a guy in Ireland - he had a wee cute border collie puppy, Flora (we got on splendidly; Flora and I). He said he is going to train Flora to be a herding dog and then he is going to sell her for approx 1000GBP. Bottom line you get to play with the wee puppy and as soon as it reaches that smelly age you sell it and get a new one.:-) - Kat
